Jiggs Downing is the founder of Professional Guitar and Bass Tuition. He first picked up a guitar at age 15 and through his musical journey he joined the SADF and served in the entertainment core. After two years in the national service he joined the local band Stingray with who he recorded and toured around the country. After the group disbanded he freelanced and recorded with many South African artists such as, PJ Powers, Steve Hofmeyer, Laurika Rauch and Coenie de Villers. Jiggs then went into a two year contract with Sun International Royal Swazi Spa backing various overseas and local cabaret artists from Madeline Bell, Neville Nash, Judy Page and Barry Hilton. He went to play in the local blues rock trio Fat City and also played with Shirley Bassey on her South African tour. He eventually moved on to theatre playing broadway classics as The Rocky Horror Picture Show, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat, Hairspray, Footloose, Rent, We Will Rock You, Cats and Janice Honeyman's Pantomimes at the Civic Theatre
to name but a few.

Based in Alberton (southern Johannesburg) we cater for students of all ages and any flavour of musical style from blues to rock, contemporary or classical.
We are flexible offering lessons to students at our jam room in Alberton as well as the option of providing a more personal tuition in the comfort of your own home. Night classes are also available to those who are stuck with the long working hours of the day shift making the joy and satisfaction of learning how to play your favourite songs freely available to everybody.
